I have to admit, I have a bit of a sweet tooth in the morning. Something about the alarm ringing and a morning workout makes me want a dark chocolate bar. But since I can’t survive on dark chocolate alone (although I wish), I usually start my day with a fruit & veggie smoothie. The smoothie below is one of my new favorites because it reminds me of apple pie! It’s sweet, it’s spicy, and it has a nice creamy texture. It’s basically dessert plus spinach.

Apple Pie Smoothie

1 chopped apple (I used Gala)
1 cup spinach or arugula
1-2 tbsp plant protein powder
1/2 cup on non-dairy milk (I used flax milk)
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/8 tsp ground cardamom
1 tsp freshly chopped ginger

Directions: Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.
